The Salon was originally a Ladies Hairdressers and catered only for the basic hairdressing needs. It had been an existing salon for almost 40 years so, when we took it under our wing, we decided to bring it into the 21st century. With a few cosmetic changes and a lot of hard work and determination Cutting Edge was born! We are a friendly, fun yet professional contemporary unisex hair salon, yes you guys are welcome too!
As a salon that aims to meet all our client’s needs we pride ourselves in providing you with contemporary expert Cutting and Colouring services, as well as maintaining more traditional services such as Perming. Whilst our team will keep you feeling and looking fantastic, we will remain to be honest with our advice and realistic on price.

Mel
Mel is a co-owner of Cutting Edge, the Manager and Head stylist , She has been hairdressing since She left school in 1992 and can honestly say that pursuing her Hairdressing career has been the best decision that she has ever made.
Here’s a little bit about her journey throughout her hairdressing career so far.
Mel left school and entered a Hairdressing apprenticeship at the tender age of just 15. By this time Mel had really developed a passion for hair! She regularly attended competitions, seminars and shows constantly learning new techniques and skills along the way.
Learning from amazing stylists and working with the likes of Wella, Schwarzkopf, Clynol and now TIGI. A favourite time in her hairdressing career was to learn Barbering and Male Grooming and attending colouring courses that gave Her the opportunity to use all Her creativity and artistic flair thus developed into her becoming a perfectionist.
However, 5 years ago Mel developed a new passion; She wanted to teach other like minded enthusiastic individuals and, to pass on Her skills and creativity to others. This is when Cutting Edge was born! Mel is currently working towards becoming an assessor and trainer in the hairdressing industry.

I'm apparently the brains behind the business and co-owner of Cutting Edge. I'm also the creator of our Website, Online Shop and Facebook Group.
Laura
Laura is one of our senior stylist here at Cutting Edge. She was our very first apprentice and is currently working towards her NVQ level 3, and has been with us for over 4 years. Currently off on maternity leave she will be back with us next APRIL!!!

Chelsea is our apprentice here at Cutting Edge. She has come from a local, large town based salon. Chelsea is currently
working towards her NVQ Level 2 and has high aspirations to complete her Level 3 also.
